OnePlus 5T Lava Red Limited Edition launched at Rs 37,999, open sale starts from Jan 20
After announcing the Star Wars Limited Edition of the OnePlus 5T in India, OnePlus has launched the Lava Red Limited Edition of its flagship phone in the country at a price of Rs 37,999. The OnePlus 5T Lava Red Limited Edition will be available for buying in India from January 20 (12 PM IST) from the company's online store as well as from Amazon India via open sale.
The Lava Red Limited Edition of the OnePlus 5T was only recently launched in China as an exclusive but soon after it came to light that the company will be bringing it to India soon enough. It was previously being reported by some channels that OnePlus may launch it sometime before January 23, only the company has decided to launch it even sooner.
The OnePlus 5T Lava Red Limited Edition, being a limited edition device, will come with maxed out 8GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration and will be available in limited quantities. But unlike the Star Wars Limited Edition of the OnePlus 5T, the Lava Red variant costs as much as the standard Midnight Black variant. The Star Wars Limited Edition was launched in India in December for Rs 38,999.
OnePlus has been busy launching one colour variant of the OnePlus 5T after another off late. Not that the original OnePlus 5T has been around for a very long time, but, the company's strategy to launch a new colour variant -- although it offers more options -- out of the blue does tend to confuse buyers somewhat.
OnePlus recently launched a Sandstone White colour variant of the OnePlus 5T because apparently fans had been asking for a sandstone OnePlus phone -- like the company's yesteryear classic OnePlus One -- for a long time now. The company, according to co-founder Carl Pei, worked rigorously for two years -- after coming up with the all-metal OnePlus 3 -- and finally, finally it "hit upon a device that matches our standards of design." Good thing is, the OnePlus 5T Sandstone White costs as much as the original Midnight Black variant. Not so good thing is, the OnePlus 5T Sandstone White will probably not be coming to India anytime soon.
If you're as observant as Sherlock though, you won't take long to figure out that the OnePlus 5T Sandstone White is essentially the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition minus all the Star Wars razzmatazz. The OnePlus 5T Star Wars was exclusive to select markets like India, and the OnePlus 5T Sandstone White is essentially the same phone -- sans the Star Wars branding -- for all the other markets like US and Europe.
But then the Lava Red variant of the OnePlus 5T was also a China-exclusive at some point of time so you never know. The same may happen with the Sandstone White variant as well.
Specs, feature and everything to know
As is customary with most Limited Edition OnePlus phones, the OnePlus 5T Lava Red will also be available in 8GB RAM and 128GB storage option with rest of the hardware specs remaining intact.
It comes with a full-metal body with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C port for charging and data-syncing purposes, a bottom-facing speaker out, a 3.5mm audio jack and dual-SIM (nano-SIM) support. It is powered by a 2.45GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor clubbed with Adreno 540 GPU and sports an edge-to-edge 18.9 screen with an Optic AMOLED panel. The phone runs Android Nougat-based Oxygen OS and is backed by a 3,300mAh battery with support for OnePlus' Dash charging.
