Android-Powered Honor 9 Lite Launching In India On January 17

source:AndroidHeadlines.com
The Honor 9 Lite will launch in India on Wednesday, January 17th, Huawei’s subsidiary confirmed after several days of teasing its next Android-powered device. The mid-range offering from the Chinese company that was first introduced late last year will be a Flipkart exclusive in the South Asian country and is likely to start at approximately Rs. 12,000 ($188), though its pricing details are yet to be disclosed by the firm. Honor’s Wednesday launch event should also clarify how many variants of the Honor 9 Lite is the company planning to bring to India. The original equipment manufacturer is presently selling three versions of the device in its home country, with the base model featuring 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal flash memory, another one boasting 4GB of RAM, and the most premium variant having 64GB of storage space and 4GB of RAM. The three phones are available in China for between 1,199 yuan ($185) and 1,799 yuan ($278), depending on the exact configuration of the hardware.
The Honor 9 Lite features a 5.65-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2,160 by 1,080 pixels arranged in an 18:9 (2:1) aspect ratio. Its screen is protected by 2.5D glass and surrounded by relatively minimal bezels which don’t leave enough space for a physical Home button, having prompted the company to equip the device with a circular fingerprint scanner on its back. All three models have a microSD card slot supporting up to 256GB of expandable storage which also doubles as a second SIM card tray and are powered by the Kirin 659 from Huawei’s HiSilicon, an octa-core system-on-chip clocked at up to 2.36GHz which sports the Mali T830-MP2 GPU. The smartphone has two dual-camera setups, one on each side, with both offering a 13-megapixel main sensor supported by a 2-megapixel module, though only the rear one is accompanied by an LED flash. The secondary cameras are primarily used for adding a bokeh effect to images.
The Honor 9 Lite ships with a 3,000mAh non-removable battery and runs Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 from Huawei. The operating system features support for Google’s Project Treble which facilitates the process of creating software updates for the device, though it remains to be seen whether the phone maker ends up taking advantage of its capabilities and keep the handset updated on a more regular basis compared to its previous products. The Honor 9 Lite is 151 x 71.9 x 7.6mm in size, weighs 149g, and comes with support for Bluetooth 4.2 and 4G VoLTE. The device is expected to start retailing on Flipkart by the end of the month following a short pre-order period and possibly a flash sale.
